AUDIO LIBRARY & EDITING

Prepare your sound.
Keep your show moving.

Import, organize and edit reusable audio, then trigger it from cue stages.

Back to help

1. Open your library

Use the music icon beside Settings, or View → Audio Library. Opening the library does not stop the running timer. Imported and Built-in tabs separate your files from Timlect sounds.

Search by name, sort the list and move through pages. Select a sound to preview it and see which cues, presets or defaults reference it. Speaker selection and master volume are under Settings → Audio Output.

2. Import and organize

Choose Import for your files or Import from Windows to browse system sounds. Loading progress and a result summary show what was added or skipped. Duplicate files are skipped.

  • Supported import formats: WAV, MP3, OGG, M4A, FLAC, AIF and AIFF, subject to decoder support.
  • Maximum imported file size: 50 MiB per file.
  • Waveform editing supports up to one hour and 128 MiB of decoded audio. A compressed file within the import limit can still exceed the editing limit.
  • Imported copies stay in Timlect's local data folder. Use Open audio folder to locate them.
  • Large libraries use disk space. Search and pagination keep browsing manageable; remove unused imports when appropriate.

Built-in sounds cannot be edited or deleted. Deleting an imported sound removes the library copy and can leave cue references unavailable; check Used in first.

3. Edit directly on the waveform

Select an imported track and choose Edit audio. Stereo tracks show separate left/right waveforms; mono tracks show one.

Playback region
Drag the start and end markers to choose the section to play.
Fades and levels
Drag fade handles. Click the volume line to add points, then drag points up or down to shape levels. Alt-click a volume point to remove it.
Section editing
Select a region, then Cut, Delete section, Silence or Keep selection. Paste inserts the cut section at the playhead. Undo and redo let you revise edits.
Navigation
Use the mouse wheel to zoom, Shift + wheel to pan, or Fit to see the whole track. Drag the playhead to seek.
Preview
Play/pause with the button or Space while the editor is focused. Stop returns to the region's start.

4. Check levels, apply or export

The channel meters show digital sample peaks in dBFS before the preview volume adjustment. Clipping warnings flag samples that exceed the digital limit after edits. These are not true-peak meters and cannot detect every kind of distortion in a recording or your sound system. Listen through your event audio setup.

Apply stores editing instructions and keeps the source intact. Every use of that library sound in the current show uses those edits on subsequent playback. Make a separate copy if another cue needs a different edit.

Save As exports the edited result as a 16-bit PCM WAV to a folder you choose. It does not automatically add the export to the library or apply the edit to your show. Import the new WAV if you want it as a separate sound. Choose a new filename to avoid overwriting an existing file.

5. Add it to your cue

In a cue stage, choose a sound in Audio or use the adjacent music icon to open the library picker. Your cue draft stays open. Select the sound and choose Use selected sound.

For a 20-minute break, create a text cue with a hidden 20-minute countdown. Add a stage at 300 seconds remaining to play a voice prompt, then choose the following cue under After cue.

Save your .timlect show to include referenced custom audio and its edits. Rehearse the complete sequence on the destination computer before going live.
